Meet the Instructors

Master Anya Adams

Master Anya Adams has been with Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios for two decades and brings a depth of experience and love for martial arts that is truly inspiring. Her journey with martial arts began at the age of 24 in New York City, and when she moved to Denver, she found her second home with Z-Ultimate. Anya has an interesting backstory. She worked in the music industry for 11 years, promoting artists and navigating the ever-changing landscape of music. But as the industry changed, she felt a shift in her own interests and passions. This led her to commit full-time to martial arts and sharing its benefits with others. She began working in the Aurora dojo, and just a few years later, she had the honor of opening the Highlands Ranch East location. Currently, she's the District Manager overseeing seven of our studios, proving her dedication and commitment to the Z-Ultimate community. Master Anya is passionate about coaching, training, and guiding others. She's eager to share her insights on leadership, self-discipline, and self-respect with your child during the Leadership Camp.

Master Curtis Flick

Master Curtis Flick is a passionate martial artist and instructor with over two decades of experience in teaching and mentoring students. As a 5th Degree Black Belt with Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios, he brings a wealth of martial arts knowledge and life experience to our Leadership Camp. Beginning his journey with Z-Ultimate full-time in the Beverly Hills studio, Curtis quickly rose through the ranks, taking over as Chief Instructor and Studio Manager of the Redondo Beach location. His real career breakthrough, however, was when he opened the first Z-Ultimate location in Colorado Springs in 2013. Since then, Curtis has led the charge in opening three additional Colorado Springs locations, overseeing the existing location in Parker, CO, and has been instrumental in training the instructors of several other locations. His commitment and skill have earned him the prestigious Instructor of the Year award twice with the company. A family man, Curtis is a proud father to an 11-year-old brown belt and a husband to a black belt. He believes in the transformative power of martial arts, not just as a form of self-defense but as a tool for building character, leadership, and resilience. Master Curtis Flick's deep understanding of martial arts and passion for teaching make him a truly inspiring mentor. He's excited to bring his expertise to our Leadership Camp and help shape the next generation of leaders.

Who can attend the Leadership Camp?

The Leadership Camp is open to all students aged 8 to 15. Prior martial arts experience is not mandatory, as we will cover a range of techniques suitable for all levels. There are only 50 spots available, so grab yours quickly.

What will my child learn at the camp?

Our camp is designed to enhance your child's martial arts skills and integrate them with life and leadership training. This includes critical thinking, effective communication, teaching strategies, and social interaction techniques. We also encourage personal growth, building confidence, and learning strategies for interacting positively with different personalities.

Who will be teaching at the camp?

The camp is led by Master Anya Adams and Master Curtis Flick, both 5th Degree Black Belts with a combined four decades of martial arts and teaching experience. Other experienced instructors from Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios will also be teaching.

What are the dates and timings of the camp?

The Leadership Camp runs from June 19th to June 23rd, Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 1 PM each day.

How much does the camp cost?

If you register by June 5th, the camp costs only $697. After June 5th the price will be $997.

What should my child bring to the camp?

Students should come dressed in full uniform and perhaps bring a change of clothes, and bring a water bottle, and snacks/lunch. We will provide all other necessary materials and equipment.

What measures are you taking to ensure the safety of my child?

We prioritize safety above all. All our instructors are trained in first aid, and we maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio to ensure personal attention. The activities are designed with the utmost consideration for age-appropriate safety.

Can parents stay during the camp?

While we have no problem if you decide to stick around, we encourage independence during the camp. Rest assured, our team is committed to providing a safe and enriching experience for your child. Parents will be invited to a showcase on the last day of camp to see some of what their children have learned.

What if my child has a medical condition?
